The Tilney St Lawrence village sign, which
was first put up in 1974 depicts ½ a tyre and ½
a cog wheel with a spanner, a whip and a shepherds crook inside.
These symbolise the village's links with engineering, transport
and farming.
Below the name are two figures represent St Lawrence, patron
saint of the parish church and John Aylmer, who was born at
Aylmer Hall in the village and in 1577 became Bishop of London.
At the bottom of the sign are bulrushes to represent the Marshland
area.
